Today it is a favorite destination for British skiers due to its stunning scenery and an atmosphere full of alpine charm and hospitality. Adding to the popularity of this place is the fact that the ski resort of Meribel is considered the forefather of a holiday in a serviced chalet.
In fact, the first chalets were built when Peter Lindsay was developing the resort before World War II. Over time, the number of places to stay has increased, and now there is a wide selection of luxury chalets and hotels.
The skiing here is also fantastic. In the vicinity there are ski slopes of all categories, as well as two ski parks and many off-piste activities. Some routes even pass through the village – it is a fascinating sight when illuminated at night. Skiing in Méribel also means access to nearby resorts such as Courchevel, Le Menuire, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and La Tania.
There’s plenty to do off the slopes, including plenty of restaurants, frequent live music and plenty of other activities. These include the Helios SPA, snowshoeing, water sports, mountain bike rental, ice skating, bowling, a movie theater and much more.
The resort boasts a central location in the Three Valleys, a modern system of cable cars and lifts, excellent preparation of the slopes and a pleasant atmosphere, as if from famous films with ski resorts.
